She'll paint your palette black and blue

How did you come up with your derby name:
My name is a play off of Vincent Van Gogh's famous painting, "Starry Night." I have always loved that painting so I got it tattooed on my arm. When it came time to pick my derby name, I knew I had to pay homage to both Van Gogh and my awesome tattoo artist. Oh yeah, a little known fact is that NOFX has a really great song called "Starry Starry Night," so I guess that influenced my name as well.

How and when did you get involved with roller derby?
I was at a local bar one night when one of the bartenders mistook me for another player, The Educator. I'm not surprised because I was wearing a shirt that had a logo similar to ARRG's, and people always say that Educator and I look alike. Although I tried to argue with the bartender, (I had never even really heard of ARRG) he didn't believe me. He left me thinking, though: if he could see me as a roller derby girl, then I could see it too.

Any serious injuries?
A broken thumb, although I guess some would say that's not really serious. Also, a torn meniscus in my right knee.

Any favorite positions?
Jamming! I knew I wanted to be a jammer the minute I joined. Jamming is very challenging and often frustrating task, but it suits me well and I learn something new each time I get on the track. Any pre-bout rituals? I buy a new pair of fishnets the morning of each game. I also listen to music which is upbeat and gets me excited to play. Usually, I'll make a new compilation before each game and rock out on the way there. Once I get to the rink, I get very serious. I take deep breaths and engage in some meditation before I hit the track.

What kind of skates and wheels do you roll on?
Reidell Wicked and Devil Rays, a lethal combination.

Derby Pet Peeve:
I really don't have any. I am pretty laid back and it takes a lot to annoy or anger me. Maybe that is why I am a better jammer than blocker....
